Hundreds of Leeds folk go through county court – despite delays

There were hundreds of small claims cases dealt with at Leeds County Court this year, new figures show.

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers said people in need of justice are facing “unacceptable delays” for their day in court.
New figures from the Ministry of Justice for the first quarter of this year show there were 486 small claims allocated at Leeds County Court - more than the 366 a year ago, and more than the 452 in 2020.
The average wait time for a small claims case to be heard at Leeds County Court in the three months to March was 10 months and 21 days.
