Adam's ultrahuman 400 miles in 10 days for incredible community
Yorkshire Evening Post
|May 19, 2025
“Sore feet, sore calves, and sore legs” - Adam Kelly is understandably feeling quite achy. He has just completed his 400 mile challenge for men's suicide prevention charity Andy's Man Club.
From May 2 to May 11, Adam ran 40 miles every single day along the same route from Alwoodley to Tadcaster.
He raised £1,943 for Andy's Man Club, a charity which provides peer-led support groups for men across the country every Monday evening.
Adam's running strategy was to break up each part of his route into small milestones. Instead of thinking that he was running 40 miles each day, he treated small signs, whether that be a hill, a house, or even turning left, as its own finish line.
But along his route, his one man challenge soon became a community endeavour.
Throughout the week, Adam was surprised by other runners who decided to run part of his route with him, providing vital “distraction” from the growing pain of running an ultramarathon every day.
Members of running groups Shadwell Runners and Bardsey and East Keswick Running Club, complete strangers to Adam, even changed their plans so they could run with him.
