Rijiju, Richard Gere among thousands to wish exiled leader
The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama on Sunday celebrated his 90th birthday amid enthusiasm and festivity, and thousands of the Tibetan followers and supporters of the Dalai Lama attended the celebration at the main Tibetan Temple at McLeod Ganj today.
The heavy monsoon rains, however, did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Tibetan people, and the Dalai Lama was greeted when he came out of his palace in traditional robes, smiling and responding to the greeting people.
The Tibetan monks were chanting hymns, and dance troupes performed in their traditional costumes till His Holiness reached the dais.
