A new challenge for Indian immigrants in the U.S.

A major challenge is emerging for Indians living in the United States.

Recently introduced in the U.S. Congress, 'The One Big Beautiful Bill' proposes a 5% tax on remittances sent abroad by non-U.S. citizens. This includes H-1B visa holders, green card holders, and other non-citizens. If passed, this bill will have a direct financial impact on millions of Indians working in the U.S. who regularly send money back home to their families in India.

The goal of this proposed tax is to generate additional revenue for the U.S. government. However, it has become a matter of concern for immigrant communities, particularly the Indian diaspora.
