O'Donnell excited for injured stars to return

Stephen O’Donnell admits he is excited to see some of his team-mates return from injury and attack a full pre-season this summer.

The Steelmen were ravaged by injury to key players last term, which contributed to some tough times for former boss Stuart Kettlewell and his short-term successor Michael Wimmer as the club finished in the bottom six. However, with a clean slate for everyone under an, as yet to be named, new manager in the coming weeks, O'Donnell is looking forward to some key men like skipper Paul McGinn returning. He said: “It’s always important, pre-season, but more so this season.

“There's hopefully lots of excitement around the likes of Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, who will get a full pre-season in.

“Sam Nicholson hopefully will be back fully fit and it’s great to see him back.
