Popular animal sanctuary set to close this month

A BELOVED animal sanctuary in Cornwall will be closing its doors for good, and supporters have said it is the “end of an era”.

The Tamar Valley Donkey Park takes in donkeys, ponies, goats and sheep that need help.

Over the years, countless visitors have made trips to the site at St Ann's Chapel, near Gunnislake, and have helped the charity with its mission to find 'forever homes' for the animals.

In recent times, animal numbers have thinned out as staff tried to make running the centre “more manageable” for its elderly owners, Julie and David Gibbons.

Taking to Facebook, a spokesperson for the centre said: “With all the rumours circulating, we are saddened to announce the closure of the Tamar Valley Donkey Park and Sanctuary at the end of August.
