No last-day miracle for Camborne
Western Morning News
|April 28, 2025
THERE was no last-day miracle for Camborne in the two-horse race between them and Clifton for top spot in National Two West, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
-
The Cherry & Whites needed to win at Luctonians and hope lowly Exeter University won at Clifton to go past the Bristolians into the lone promotion place.
The Students failed to keep their side of the bargain by losing 48-22 to Clifton, not that it mattered as the Cherry & Whites went down 40-27 away to Macclesfield.
Having topped the table for so long - 17 rounds of a 26-round season before losing to Clifton with three games to go - Camborne had to settle for the runners-up spot.
"Having led for so long, it is disappointing," said Camborne's director of rugby Steve Larkins in a recent interview.
