Harvey had no hesitation in returning to the pro game at 30

TYLER Harvey has returned to full-time football at the age of 30 with newly-promoted National League club Truro City and could not be more excited about the prospect.
It was eight-and-a-half years ago that the Plymouth Argyle youth product first signed for Truro and apart from a couple of months in 2019 when he had a brief spell at Bath City he has remained with the Cornish club ever since.
Harvey made his first team debut for Argyle at the age of 17 during the 2012/13 season under manager John Sheridan while still an apprentice before stepping up to the professional ranks. He went on to make a total of 60 appearances, but only 11 of them were starts, and grabbed five goals.
After being an unused substitute when the Pilgrims lost 2-0 to AFC Wimbledon at Wembley in the League Two playoff final in May 2016, Harvey left his hometown club and joined Wrexham, then in the National League. He played just 11 times for the Welsh club, though, and after a brief loan spell at Bath, he joined Truro in January 2017 and has been their top scorer each season.
Harvey took it to new heights last term, though, as he netted 27 goals to help the Tinners win the National League South title, beating Torquay United to the one automatic promotion place on goal difference. That resulted in him being named as the division’s player-of-the-season.
Now they are about to become the first ever Cornish club to play in the National League - one division below the EFL - and as a consequence of that Truro have signed their squad to professional contracts, Harvey included.
Harvey told WMN Sport: “I think it's a decision the club had to make because of just the way the game is going now. There was a risk of getting left behind in that league had we not been fully committed.
“It took a couple of weeks to get the body going again day in day out but we will get there. It’s only going to be beneficial for everyone to be fitter and have more touches of the ball every day. It's something that had to be done.
