Babcock hails increase in profits

DEFENCE firm Babcock International Group has posted a jump in profits for the first half of the year, driven in part by demand from the nuclear and marine sectors, writes Hannah Baker.
Revenue for the six months to September 30 rose to £2.5 billion - marginally up from £2.4bn a year earlier - while underlying operating profit increased by 19% to £201.1 million. Basic earnings per share rose from 25.7p to 33.7p.
