SWANS LEAD RACE TO SIGN STRIKER OLI

The Scotland striker is currently a free agent after leaving Spanish club Las Palmas this summer.

He is currently weighing up his options, with Hull City and another one of his former employers, Sheffield United, also showing interest in him.

The Tigers have been hit with a transfer embargo, meaning their chances of landing the 29-year-old are slim.

Recently-relegated side Ipswich Town are also mentioned as possible suitors for the Swans academy graduate.

But at this stage of the summer, Swansea are in pole position, report The Sun.

Head coach Alan Sheehan is likely to see Jerry Yates leave the club in the next few weeks, while Josh Ginnelly is also set to move on.

We understand that there is interest in a reunion with McBurnie but finances would likely be a barrier to a deal being done.

Meanwhile, Alan Sheehan has confirmed new signing Ricardo Santos will be out for some time after the injury he sustained against Cheltenham Town.

The centre-back was withdrawn in the first half against the Robins after he landed awkwardly; in fact, the head coach described it as a "shocking landing" and says he will be without the centre-back for a period.
