HOOKER Alun Rees was a proud man after he marked his 100th Cardiff appearance with a try to help steer the Blue and Blacks to victory over Llandovery.
-
At 33, Rees is one of a number of battle-hardened senior members of the pack.
‘The Swansea product made his debut for Cardiff in October 2013, having come through the Ospreys Academy.
‘After five years with Bedwas, he returned to the Arms Park for the 2021-22 season.
His try in the first half against the Drovers was his 40th for Cardiff and saw him reach 200 points for the club.
Alongside Rees on the scoresheet were Osian Darwin-Lewis, Tom Harper, Steffan Emanuel and Tom Williams, with Lloyd Lucas adding 12 points from the tee.
“Obviously it was a special day,” said Rees.
“To be fair to Fishy (Dan Fish, Cardiff head coach), he got my family in before the game, which I didn’t expect.
“It was a nice little touch and I really appreciated that.
“It was just a great win and an unbelievable performance by the boys to top it off.
“We played really well and deserved what we got”
Rees added: “It means a lot to have reached 100 games.
