ERRY Ng says he’s the happiest he’s ever been at Cardiff City - despite playing fewer minutes this season after admitting last year was “a disaster” that forced the club into the reset it desperately needed.

The defender, who has become one of the Bluebirds’ most consistent performers since joining in 2021, has had to fight with Ronan Kpakio for the right-back spot this term.

Kpakio has emerged as a real talent, but Ng is a dependable player who brings a lot to the table, as you would expect from a double Player of the Year Award winner.

And Ng has spoken candidly about the rollercoaster 18 months Cardiff have endured and the huge impact Brian Barry-Murphy has already made on the club.

“It's been tough at times,” Ng said. “People might be thinking that because I’m not playing as much now that I am disappointed, but this is the happiest I've been at Cardiff.

“I can see a real project with Brian and the younger lads. It’s probably the most talented squad we've had here. I'm just loving it, and if we stick together we can go a long way.”

Ng didn’t shy away from describing just how bad things had become last season, calling it “horrible” and “a disaster’. But he believes the difficult campaign might have been a necessary step towards rebuilding properly.

“I was worried in the summer,” he admitted. “This club has been through so many ups and downs and last year was horrible, a disaster. I took a few weeks to reflect and then realised this is maybe what the club needed - a bit of a reset.
