A YOUNG man had been drinking before fatally crashing his car, an inquest has heard.

Connor Ockerby’s blood alcohol level was likely a factor in the collision and he was not wearing a seatbelt, said coroner Kerrie Burge.

Pontypridd Coroner's Court heard Mr Ockerby, from Barry, was just 20 when he died following an accident in the early hours of July 14 last year on the A4055 between Barry and Dinas Powys. He had been socialising with friends on that date and they had travelled to a local garage.

On the return journey Mr Ockerby, who was driving a grey Ford Fiesta, crashed at around 3.50am.
