Hyne off mark as pair eye promotion

JAMIE Hyne didn’t take long to prove his worth at new club Newtown as he scored within five minutes of his league debut in JD Cymru North.

Better than that, the man who notched 17 goals at Guilsfield last season got a second in the Robins’ 3-0 home win over Ruthin Town as they launched their first campaign in the second tier with a resounding victory.
“It wasn't pretty at times but I’m happy with two goals, a clean sheet and three points. It is a young squad and we have gelled very well,” said Hyne. “I set a target with the gaffer before I came in. I just want to score as many as I can to help the team, although promotion is what we're really after.”
New boss Nathan Leonard saw Zeli Ismail, Jason Oswell, Aaron Williams, George Hughes and Dominic Smith all depart after relegation last season and has had to build a new team. As well as Hyne's double, Louis Jacobs added a third just on the hour mark.
