Condemned to an eternity of concrete

THE controversy over reinstatement of the massive Ffos y Fran opencast site in Merthyr Tydfil will repeat itself in the future.

I am not qualified in any way in civil engineering, but as an ordinary person I am observant of what is going on around me.

Our governments, Westminster, Wales and Scotland, are determined to press ahead with their policies of attaining net zero carbon emissions.

On the face of it a very noble position. However, it is becoming very evident that certain aspects of this are dangerously damaging to our economy and, particularly, our environment.

A key part of this policy is to cover much of upland rural Wales with the new breed of ever bigger, ineffective wind turbines, with all sorts of pylon lines taking their erratic output power to urban cities with massive new “battery” centres along the grid to store surplus for calm days.
