Child rapist found with 23 images

A CHILD rapist who moved to Wales and started a new life was caught with indecent images on his phone involving children as young as four, a court has heard.

Wayne Evans, 59, was arrested after the National Crime Agency passed information to Welsh detectives about his online activities.

Swansea Crown Court heard Evans is a registered sex offender after being given a 15-year prison sentence for child rape and sexual assault of a child.

Alexandra Wilson, prosecuting, told the court that in January last year the National Crime Agency passed information to Dyfed-Powys Police about an account on the messaging app Kik which was involved in downloading indecent images.

She said the email linked to the Kik account was known to police as it belonged to the defendant, a registered sex offender who had moved to west Wales in 2023 and who was being managed in the community.

Police went to the defendant's house on January 28, when he told officers he knew what they were talking about, adding: "I didn't download the images. They were on a Kik group I was part of. It's now been shut down."
