Saturday’s goalless draw at home to Blackpool means the Bluebirds are now seven points adrift of chief rivals Lincoln City, who were 3-0 winners over Rotherham United.
But Cardiff remain 11 clear of third-placed Bolton Wanderers in the battle for automatic promotion.
“It is a very disappointing result,” said Cardiff boss Barry-Murphy.
“We were so determined to win and wanted to, but today we weren’t able to.
