NORTH Perrott secured a second maximum 20-point haul to continue their perfect start to the West of England Premier League Somerset Division campaign.
-
Visiting newly-promoted Butleigh, Perrott opted to bat and were led initially by George Retter who struck 56 to help reach 105-4. Freddie Wolfenden added a patient 23, alongside Charlie Male’s 26, before Dan Brain quickened the pace with 48 off 34 balls as Perrott were dismissed for 209 a ball shy of 49 overs.
Butleigh managed to get themselves to 58-2, before three quick wickets really halted their progress at 74-5. Having taken two of those early wickets, Ronnie Frost returned to claim three more and finish with 5-34 to bowl Butleigh out for 164 in 41 overs. Retter managed 2-29 too as Perrott won by 45 runs.
Perrott also made it through to the Somerset & Avon Group semi finals and overall third round of the National Village Cup on Sunday.
Visiting Wembdon, Perrott elected to bat and, after losing Sam Rowswell for 11, captain Retter (40) and Frost combined for a second-wicket partnership of 62. Frost had to anchor the innings once Retter departed, before he and Archie Frost (42) put on 81 for the fifth wicket where Frost was sadly trapped Ibw for an agonising 99 off 92 balls.
Decent knocks from wicket-keeper Male (22 off 21 balls) and Charlie Binns (21* off 11 balls) saw Perrott to 265-7 from their 40 overs.
Wembdon made a decent start to the reply with an opening partnership of 83, however once that was broken by a run out from Rowswell, the wickets started to tumble as they fell to 109-7 and eventually 134 all out a ball into the 32nd over. Perrott won by 131 runs as Lorraine Szczepanski (5-4) brought the game to an end with her fifth wicket in an incredible 5.1 overs. There were a couple of victims also for Frost and Andrew Knight.
Yeovil bounced back from their opening day defeat with a comfortable eight-wicket success at a Wellington side propping up the table at this early stage of the season. Good mid-order batting saw Wellington rescue themselves from 69-3 to 138-5.
