The plans will ban shooting or extend the “close season”, when birds cannot be killed, for a number of species in Great Britain.

Under plans put out for consultation by the UK, Scottish and Welsh governments, restrictions would be brought in for woodcock, pintail, goldeneye, and pochard ducks.
