Netanyahu orders army to hit Gaza with ‘powerful strikes’

ISRAEL'S Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he has ordered the army to immediately carry out “powerful strikes” in Gaza, in a new test for the United States-brokered ceasefire in the Palestinian territory.

Yesterday's order from Mr Netanyahu follows heightened tensions, after Israel reported Hamas firing on its forces in southern Gaza and after Hamas returned a set of remains that Israel said belonged to a hostage recovered earlier in the war.
