Frustrating end to our year - Kerr

SOMERSET head coach Jason Kerr insisted that a “disappointing end to the season” did not take away from “an incredible year” overall.

After the West county were skittled for 99 on Friday, hosts Essex made 99 for three in just 18.1 overs on Saturday to wrap up victory at Chelmsford.

Somerset, however, finished third in the Championship behind winners Nottinghamshire and second-placed Surrey, and reached the semifinals of the One-Day Cup as well as winning the Vitality Blast.

Asked about the defeat to Essex, Kerr said: “It’s been frustrating, and I’ve just been saying to the group there that it’s a disappointing way to end the season. It wasn’t how we wanted to finish - Friday’s performance with the bat has cost us the game - but it doesn’t take away from what has been an incredible year.
