Flats bid for empty care home site

PLANS to build more than 30 apartments on the site of an abandoned care home in Chippenham have been revealed.

Horizon Homes has lodged proposals to build 31 homes on the site of Leonora Home at Wood Lane, Chippenham with Wiltshire Council.
The care home closed in 2021 and the building has had a chequered history since.
In 2023, a cannabis farm of around 500 plants was discovered at the property, and earlier this month police searched the property and grounds following the fatal stabbing of Shayne Hambakachere nearby.
