The RHS made the announcement about some of the highlights of their garden shows this year as the charity heads for new venues at Sandringham, Norfolk and Badminton, Gloucestershire, this year.

The Sandringham show will feature the RHS Royal Legacy Garden, designed by Catherine MacDonald in collaboration with Charles, featuring some of his favourite plants, utilising local Norfolk materials and championing horticultural and rural skills.

Ms MacDonald said it was an “honour” to be collaborating with the King for the garden that will be a centrepiece of the show.

“We are in the early stages, but I am finding the process inspiring and looking forward to including some of His Majesty's ideas and most-loved plants for visitors to enjoy.”

She said she had already had some discussions with Charles about possible options and ideas that might inspire the layout, adding: “It's going to be quite bold and colourful.”

Once they have decided on the colour palette for the garden, they would be deciding on planting, which could include some of the King’s favourites such as delphiniums, roses and acers.
