Treasured town clock is back in action - just in time

TIME stands still for many of our sleepy villages and towns in Somerset which is why we love them.

But for locals in Shepton Mallet time has literally stood still for many years now as the local town clock above, pictured inset, the post office was not working.

Several years ago it stopped at 7.20, then it was put to 12 o'clock and for years that is the only time it told, its beautiful hour, minute and second hands laying idle. It was a sad sight.
