Hikers’ 28-mile challenge for mental health cause

MORE than 60 people took part in a hike from Weston-super-Mare to Wookey Hole, to mark Mental Health Awareness Month last week, writes Lauren Wright.
The 28-mile journey started at 7am and finished around 7pm, with 25 people completing the whole route.
The challenging hike was organ-ised to raise funds for Heads Up Somerset, a local charity supporting people in the Mendip area with mental health challenges, including dementia.
Launched last year, the Mental Health Hike was organised by Chris Young from Wolf Barbers and Neil Winterson of the Wells Men's Walk-ing and Talking Group. The 2024 hike from Uphill to Wells Cathedral raised over £17,000, an incredible amount for the charity.
