It’s the booze talking. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh fired back at Doug Ford on Tuesday, accusing the premier of being “obsessed with alcohol in convenience stores” instead of more pressing challenges.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh accused Premier Doug Ford Tuesday of being "obsessed with alcohol in convenience stores" instead of more pressing challenges like health care.
One day after Ford derided Singh for abruptly ending the two-year supply and confidence agreement to prop up Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority Liberals, the New Democrat responded.
“Doug Ford needs to worry about delivering health care. People in Ontario can’t get the health care they need, they’re struggling with the cost of living and he’s obsessed with alcohol in convenience stores,” the federal NDP leader said in Montreal.
“I don’t know any person that I’ve spoken to when I tour Ontario, when I’m in the communities, that says that’s their No. 1 pressing issue,” said Singh, referring to the premier’s booze liberalization scheme that took effect last week and will cost taxpayers between $225 million and $1 billion.
“Doug Ford should focus on those things instead of being stuck on Twitter,” he said.
