Conners, Hadwin struggle on weekend, fail to make top 30 in standings
Taylor Pendrith didn’t have the start to the year he would have liked, nor the weekend at the penultimate event of the PGA Tour’s 2024 campaign.
But thanks to his tie for 13th at the BMW Championship, Pendrith will be the lone Canadian to make it to the Tour Championship as one of the top 30 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings, and he is firmly in the mix to be one of captain Mike Weir’s picks for the International team at the Presidents Cup next month.
“Very stressful. I didn’t have my best stuff today,” Pendrith told reporters in Castle Rock, Col., the site of the second-last event of the FedEx Cup playoffs. “I felt comfortable with a lot of shots that I had and just wasn’t turning out how I envisioned in it in my mind. It was a grind right until the end.
“I saw on 16, I think I was projected 28th (in the FedEx Cup standings) so I figured I needed a decent finish and to make (a birdie on No. 17) felt awesome. I’m super, super thrilled to be going to (the Tour Championship)”
