No saving grace in late loss to Mets

Nance’s blown save was 20th of season for Toronto
The Blue Jays have been searching for some stability at the back of the bullpen all season. In Monday night’s series opener against the New York Mets at the Rogers Centre, they gave Tommy Nance a shot to protect a one-run lead in the eighth inning.
As has happened so often this season, it didn’t work and the Jays fell 3-2, their sixth loss in seven games.
Nance, a 33-year-old with a career 5.47 ERA in 62 appearances coming into this season, was purchased from the San Diego Padres in early August and immediately became a steadying presence in a leaky bullpen.
