A Radiant Work Reborn

SOME TIME AROUND 1470, Rainerio di Lodovico Migliorati, a humanist scholar and adviser to the ruling Malatesta family in Rimini, a coastal town in the north of modern Italy, commissioned a devotional painting from the Venetian master Giovanni Bellini (1424/26-1516).
