The Bombay high court asked BMC to take immediate action to cover manholes on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) between Mulund and Ghatkopar after it was shown pictures of uncovered drains in the city and its vicinity on Tuesday.

Mumbai: Two of these pictures had appeared in the TOI Citizen Reporter column.
“These are all death traps. One may not die but one may fracture bones,” said Chief Justice Dipankar Datta.
A bench of the chief justice and Justice Abhay Ahuja was shown the photographs of uncovered drains by advocate Ruju Thakker, who moved an application in a pending contempt petition on non-compliance by municipal corporations of a 2018 HC judgment on potholes.
