'I handed over £100k to Matt the charmer'

PUSHED to the brink after being scammed out of nearly £100,000 by a romance con artist, US-based Rebecca D'Antonio, 46, even considered suicide.

She says: "When I joined a dating site in 2016, I wanted to find a meaningful relationship.

"When 'Matthew' sent me a message, I felt an instant connection with him.

"He told me his wife had died of cancer and he had a five-year-old son.

"He was charismatic and charming. We were messaging each other daily and speaking on the phone for a year.
