Tiger Woods was. Unrivalled achievement does not necessarily mean unrivalled talent, which is why GOAT arguments can never really be settled.

There are certainly very few sports where there is a definitive answer.

Snooker is one, Ronnie O'Sullivan's honours doing justice to a talent beyond compare.

But they are few and far between.

And in football, there will never be someone who is universally acknowledged as the best of all time.

For starters, different generations simply cannot be accurately compared.

I can give you a strong opinion on Diego Maradona, but not on Pele.

And just as significantly, there is that achievement/talent conundrum.

In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi, their achievements have been commensurate with their talent.
