Discussions on J&K’s statehood are stalled, emphasising the need for improved security.
While the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir arrived in New Delhi with the cabinet resolution for statehood, there have been a string of terror attacks since the conclusion of elections, disrupting peace in Kashmir Valley.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other national leaders.
"Visited honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji in New Delhi to present a cabinet resolution advocating for the reinstatement of Jammu and Kashmir's empowered statehood. The resolution underscores the J&K government's dedication to safeguarding the identity and constitutional rights of the region's residents," Abdullah wrote on Instagram while sharing his picture with Prime Minister Modi.
