Swami Vivekananda's legacy stands as a timeless beacon of inspiration for the youth, offering guidance that transcends generations.
-
His teachings emphasise selfdiscovery, societal responsibility, and national pride, resonating profoundly in today's world of distractions and ideological flux.
His life and philosophy demonstrate the transformative power of character, discipline, and service to the greater good, forming the cornerstone for personal growth and societal rejuvenation.
Vivekananda transformed and modernised the Hindu way of life. Swami Vivekananda was a religious and social reformer who is considered a key figure in the revival of Hinduism in the late 19th century. The lasting effects of Vivekananda's reappraised Hinduism, which he presented to the World Parliament of Religions in 1893 to such powerful effect, paved the way for the resurgence of religion and spirituality that prevailed during the latter half of the 20th century beginning with the 1960s' counter culture.
INSPIRING JOURNEY
Born as Narendranath Dutta into a modest Bengali family in Kolkata in 1863, on 12 January, Vivekananda's early life was defined by intellectual curiosity, spiritual inquiry, and a deep sense of compassion. Despite his privileged upbringing, his mother's moral teachings and encounters with societal inequities profoundly shaped him. These experiences instilled in him a lifelong commitment to service and the pursuit of truth.
Vivekananda's journey to global prominence was rooted in humility and perseverance. After becoming a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, he travelled extensively across India, observing the conditions of ordinary people and understanding their struggles.
His travels culminated in his celebrated speech at the 1893 Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago, where he introduced Indian spirituality to the West and emphasised the oneness of humanity.
