Home-grown celebrities are shaking up the podcast scene with revelatory interviews and eye-opening discussions
In recent years, the podcasting world has seen an influx of international actors, singers and other celebrities get in front of a microphone and start yapping away on their own podcasts.
Armchair Expert by American actor-comedian Dax Shepard and SmartLess by American actors Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, for example, were among 2024's Top 20 most-listened-to podcasts on Spotify in the United States.
Closer to home, Singapore-based Chinese-American actor-host Allan Wu has been making headlines for the revelatory interviews on his podcast Call Us Daddy, where he gets fellow personalities from the entertainment scene to reveal previously unknown nuggets of their personal lives.
It is the newest celebrity-run podcast here – its first episode aired in September 2024.
