Search for missing people and answers in Air India crash continues

As the search for missing people and answers continued for a second day after an Air India Boeing 787 crashed on June 12, the fate of the airline is up in the air.

Investigators combed the wreckage of Air India Flight AI171 to determine what caused the crash, killing all but one of the 242 people aboard.

One of the two so-called black boxes, the digital flight data recorder which contains critical evidence of a plane's final minutes, was found on the rooftop of the plane, the India Aviation Ministry said on June 13.

Local media reported on June 13 that India may ground the airline's 787 fleet for safety checks. Air India's ambitious plans to transform itself from a stale, financially troubled carrier into a profitable world-class airline face their biggest test yet - after the deadliest aviation accident in more than a decade.
