Ferrari boss says constructors' c'ship too close to call, with four teams in the mix

PRANCING IN A PACK

Ferrari are prancing again after an initial mid-season slump, charging back into contention for the constructors' championship with seven races to go.

But team principal Fred Vasseur cautioned against looking too far ahead, noting there is over two months till the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix season finale on Dec 8.

Competition is also stiff, with little separating the top teams. Ferrari head into the Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix in third place in the constructors' standings on 425 points, 51 behind leaders McLaren and 31 adrift of two-time defending champions Red Bull.

At a press conference on Sept 20, Vasseur said: "Well, from the beginning, we are not focused on the championship. We are taking it race after race, and I think it's the right approach.

"The championship is really difficult to read, because it doesn't matter if it's the first group or the second one, it's so tight that you can move from a good weekend, you are doing a one-two, and the weekend after you are seven-eight.
