A new Young Singaporean of the Year award will be introduced to recognise younger Singaporeans who have made a contribution to society through their acts of service, selflessness or courage.
Another award for Singaporeans or Singapore entities that have made a positive impact in the international arena will also be introduced to the Singaporean of the Year awards from 2025.
Mr Jaime Ho, editor of The Straits Times, announced these new categories at the Singaporean of the Year 2024 award ceremony held at the Istana on Feb 24.
The winners and finalists will be announced along with the ST Singaporean of the Year 2025 award.
In his speech, Mr Ho said that going forward, ST will work closely with Mr M.P. Sellvem, president of non-profit organisation Civilians Association (Singapore) (CAS), and his team behind the Singapore Silent Heroes award.
