Doncic to lead offense against lowly Nets as injured superstar sits out for a week or two

Lakers Show Will Go On Without James

NEW YORK - The successful pairing of National Basketball Association superstars LeBron James and Luka Doncic will be put on hold for at least a week and possibly longer.

James will miss the game on March 10 (March 11, Singapore time) with a left groin injury when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Brooklyn Nets, who are on a seven-game losing streak.

James suffered a groin strain in the 111-101 road loss to the Boston Celtics on March 8 and will miss his fifth game this season.

He will sit out his first game since a 124-117 home win over the Indiana Pacers on Feb 8 due to ankle soreness. In his absences this season, Los Angeles are 3-1.

The Lakers are 8-3 with Doncic and James in the line-up, and their time together was interrupted when James was injured while defending a lay-up by Jaylen Brown with 6min 44sec remaining in the fourth quarter.

After struggling to get to the bench for a timeout, the four-time league Most Valuable Player slowly walked back to the locker room with the trainers.
