This crisis demands immediate and concerted global action before more lives are lost or re-exploited. For years, criminal syndicates - mostly linked to Chinese-run operations - have exploited the lawlessness of Myanmar's border regions, turning them into hubs for online fraud. The victims, many from Africa, South Asia, and China, were enticed with job offers requiring minimal skills, only to be subjected to forced labour, physical abuse, and threats to their lives.
