Kanpur emerges as leading investment hub in UP

Several companies have expressed interest in the Kanpur node of the UPDIC

The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) has become a key hub for India's defence and aerospace industries. Launched in 2018 by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), UPDIC was created to boost the country's ability to manufacture defence equipment and strengthen its aerospace sector. It covers six important locations -- Kanpur, Jhansi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Agra, and Chitrakoot -- helping Uttar Pradesh emerge as a leader in defence manufacturing.
Among the six nodes, Kanpur has emerged as the leading zone for defence investments, with a few companies already starting production.
As per the latest progress report by UPEIDA on UPDIC, investment proposals worth Rs 12,803.58 crore have been received for the Kanpur node, while 210.60 hectares of land have been allocated to industries out of a total of 222.86 hectares procured.
