Hindi has devoured many Indian languages, some more gasping for survival: Stalin

Reaching out for wider support from north of the Vindhiyas in his fight against imposition of Hindi through the three-language policy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Thursday drew attention to the fact of Hindi having devoured and obliterated many Indian languages while some more are gasping for breath.

"The push for a monolithic Hindi identity kills ancient mother tongues of many regions. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were never just 'Hindi heartlands.' The many languages of these states have vanished and are mere relics of the past. Tamil woke up and the tradition of the Tamils has survived," he wrote in a letter to his 'brethren' of other states and posted on his 'X' handle.
