T20 World Cup draw: India, Pakistan in favourable pool; Sri Lanka face toughest test
The Statesman Siliguri
|November 23, 2025
India and Sri Lanka, the joint hosts of next year’s Twenty20 World Cup, seem to have ended up with sharply different pathways to the Super Eight stage after the tournament draw, with India landing in what looks like a comfortable group while Sri Lanka face a far more demanding challenge.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, top-ranked India find themselves in a relatively gentle pool that also features Pakistan, the only other Testplaying nation in the group. The remaining teams, the Netherlands (No. 13), Namibia (No. 15) and the USA (No.18), make the bracket appear straightforward for the two Asian giants.
