Siddaramaiah slams BJP for ‘political revenge’ in Herald FIR

Accusing the BJP of indulging in “political revenge,” Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the fresh FIR filed in the National Herald case against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is yet another example of the ruling party's sustained campaign to target opposition leaders ahead of key political phases.
Sharpening his attack, Siddaramaiah said the BJP has made a habit of misusing investigative agencies to settle political scores, arguing that the new FIR is less a legal step and more a calculated bid to harass the Congress' top leadership.
He said such moves are routinely deployed by the NDA government to divert public attention from its own shortcomings.
The Chief Minister's remarks, made after paying tributes to former Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah at Vidhana Soudha, reinforce the Congress view that the National Herald of property (403 The Congress party has responded by calling the FIR part of a political vendetta by the ruling establishment.
