Initiative Launched to Upskill North-East Rubber Growers, Boost Production and Sustainability

In a push to enhance rubber production in north-east India, a Rs 145 crore initiative titled iSPEED — INROAD Skilling and Production Efficiency Enhancement Drive — has been launched to upskill over 2 lakh rubber growers and boost sustainable practices across the region.
Backed by leading tyre companies such as Apollo, Ceat, JK and MRF, and spearheaded by the Rubber Board of India, the project marks a rare instance of direct industry involvement in plantation development.
Academic institutions like Tripura University and field experts are also key partners in the implementation process.
Unveiled in Guwahati by Arun Mammen, chairman of the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA), and Pravin Tripathi, chairman of INROAD, the initiative is a part of the broader Project INROAD (Indian Natural Rubber Operations for Assisted Development) — a collaborative effort between India's tyre industry and the Rubber Board.
