Class VII girl gang-raped in Dum Dum; three arrested, outrage grows

In a horrifying crime that has triggered public anger and political protests, a 13-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly gang-raped by three youths, including one known to her, in Dum Dum on Saturday evening.
Police have arrested all three accused and registered a case under multiple sections, including rape and wrongful confinement. According to police sources, the girl, a Class VII student and resident of Dum Dum, had gone for private tuition on Saturday evening. On her way home, she met a friend near Kamalapur Park.
