Visva-Bharati and Chinese Consulate host international seminar on Tagore's 1924 China visit to enhance India-China diplomatic ties

In a significant cultural and diplomatic event, Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan will host an international seminar on 1 April, commemorating the centenary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's historic visit to China in 1924.
The event will also mark the 75th anniversary of India-China diplomatic relations.
Around 12 Chinese scholars and experts on Tagore's philosophy and literature are expected to participate.
As part of the celebrations, the Chinese Embassy and its consulates in India have proactively promoted cultural exchanges, highlighting efforts to strengthen historical and literary ties between the two Asian nations.
Tagore's 1924 visit to China symbolised a revival of ancient cultural exchanges between the two countries.
At the time, Chinese scholar Liang Qichao described India and China as "twin brothers" engaged in profound intellectual and philosophical pursuits long before much of the civilised world.
