ER's Asansol division achieves record in routine overhaul of freight wagons
The Statesman Kolkata
|April 19, 2025
In a major milestone, Asansol division of Eastern Railway has achieved the record of conducting highest-ever Routine Overhaul (ROH) outturn of 859 numbers wagons in January 2025, followed by 820 numbers in March 2025.
ROH is a scheduled maintenance process undertaken on freight wagons to ensure their safety, reliability, and longevity. A higher ROH outturn indicates that more wagons are being efficiently overhauled and returned to service, thereby enhancing the overall performance of the railway system.
This remarkable feat has set a new standard in operational efficiency and showcases Asansol division's commitment to strengthening freight movement through strategic maintenance interventions.
The trend of consistent growth in ROH productivity is also evident in data forwarded by ER authority — 479.6 numbers in 2020-21, 537.8 numbers in 2021-22, 551.2 numbers in 2022-23, and 648.4 numbers in 2023-24.
