Odisha University (Amendment) Act, 2024 comes into force with Governor giving assent

The Odisha University (Amendment) Act, 2024 has come into force in the state with Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati giving assent to the legislation, State's higher education minister Suryabanshi Suraj informed on Sunday.
Suryabandhi Suraj who had successfully piloted the Bill in the Assembly where the debate continued night long ending at around 4 am, said "With the Act coming into effect, a new dawn has arrived in the higher education landscape of Odisha".
The Act is now in force throughout the state, marking a significant reform in Odisha's higher education system, the Minister said adding that the act will bring transformative changes aimed at strengthening the education system, addressing longstanding challenges and enhancing academic excellence.
"The Odisha University (Amendment) Act, 2024 has been designed to address long-standing challenges in the state's higher education domain. It aims to bring about substantial reforms, ensuring autonomy for universities and enhancing the efficiency of academic functions," Minister Suraj further stated.
