Star Indian paddler Manika Batra has sought the intervention of Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after being excluded from India's main squad for the Asian Games 2026, urging authorities to ensure that the selection process is “transparent, consistent, and fair to all athletes.”

The 31-year-old, who won a historic mixed doubles bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, was named among the reserves along with Ankur Bhattacharjee, Ronit Bhanja and Swastika Ghosh when the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) announced its squads for the Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The men’s squad features G Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah and Payas Jain, while the women's team comprises Sreeja Akula, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Syndrela Das.
